Total public debt projected at $33.5 billion by end of 2022
Despite the growth, the total public debt remains at a level that is safe for macroeconomic stability.

This is stated in the draft budget for citizens, which was published by the Ministry of Finance.
Public external debt at the end of 2022 is projected at $30.4 billion (41% of GDP), of which $23.5 billion is attracted on behalf of the republic and $6.9 billion is guaranteed by Uzbekistan.
It is noted that the maximum amount of public debt raised on behalf of the republic and under the guarantee of Uzbekistan should not exceed 60% of GDP.
“The volume of newly signed agreements on attracting internal and external borrowings on behalf of the Republic of Uzbekistan and under the guarantee of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2022 is projected at around $4.5 billion,” the report reads.
In 2022, the cost of servicing the public debt is projected at 14,270.0 billion soums.
