During his speech at the second ministerial meeting in the “Italy-Central Asia” format, he stated that today the Afghan people find themselves in a very difficult situation, and the current humanitarian situation in the country is close to catastrophic.
“It is within our power to provide effective assistance to the Afghan people. It is necessary to provide a humanitarian corridor to Afghanistan in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe. Also, we call on the world community to take measures to lift sanctions, unfreeze Afghanistan’s international assets and help restore the country’s banking system,” the head of the Foreign Ministry said.
In his opinion, the key issue is the development of a post-conflict strategy with regard to Afghanistan.
“The priority should remain the more active involvement of Afghanistan in regional integration processes of an economic nature, as well as the implementation of socio-economic projects in the country. The slightest threat should never again come from the territory of Afghanistan, both to the states of the region and to other countries of the world,” Kamilov concluded.
