Starting from December 27, new banknotes with a face value of 50,000 soums and 100,000 soums have been issued in Uzbekistan.
On December 16, the Central Bank announced the design of the new banknotes with a face value of 50,000 soums and 100,000 soums. It was noted back then that the new banknotes would be issued on December 22.
It should be reminded that on December 17, users of social networks drew attention to the fact that the new 50,000 soum banknote depicted the mausoleum of Al-Hakim at-Termizi, but the script under it read “Abu Isa at-Termizi”.
As a result of the repeated examination, it was confirmed that there had really been a technical mistake in the development of the banknote.
The Central Bank noted that the technical error would be eliminated before the banknotes are issued. The regulator also thanked the people who found an error in the design of new banknotes.
For information, 50,000 soums issued in 2017 and 100,000 soums issued in 2019 will continue to be accepted without any restrictions for all types of payments.
