Mirziyoyev talks with Tokayev over the phone to discuss the situation in Kazakhstan
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The parties exchanged views on the development of the situation in Kazakhstan, measures taken to restore peace and tranquility in the republic as soon as possible.
Mirziyoyev once again reaffirmed the unwavering support of Uzbekistan for the fraternal people and the leadership of Kazakhstan in their effort to ensure stability and prosperity in the country.
Mass protests against the rise in prices for liquefied gas began in Kazakhstan on Sunday. The rallies began in Zhanaozen (a city in the Mangystau region in western Kazakhstan) and then continued in other cities. Amid protests, the Kazakh government resigned. Yesterday, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that Nursultan Nazarbayev is no longer the head of the Security Council of Kazakhstan.
Tokayev noted that the terrorist gangs that caused the riots in Kazakhstan “have undergone serious training abroad. And their attack on Kazakhstan can and should be viewed as an act of aggression.”
