Adolat SDP proposes a complete blockade of TikTok network
Adolat SDP proposes to completely block the TikTok network in Uzbekistan. The party explained this by the fact that “among the various videos of the younger generation, there is an increase in the number of inappropriate personnel who interfere in the lives of others”.
The party cited an example of a video circulating on social media these days in which young men from Samarkand kicked a passenger on the street. “This aggression, which was carried out for no reason, just to become a “star” of the network, is causing a great deal of discontent,” the report said.
The hooliganism in Samarkand was committed by 8th grade students of school No. 45 in the city, and appropriate measures were taken against the parents of minors.
“If we do not fight against such evils together, petty hooliganism will continue to grow. In general, such cases cannot be called petty hooliganism. By simply ignoring such ugly behavior of our children, we are seriously endangering the bright future of our country,” the Adolat SDP said.
Activists of the party, standing in the ranks of “completely against violence”, said that they were “in favor of protecting young people from any ideas and views that are alien to our nation”.
“If necessary, we should strengthen criminal liability and completely block mobile applications on the Internet, such as Tik-Tok, which do more harm than good, given the unfortunate events that are taking place,” the party said.
According to the party, the network is “poisoning the minds of young people” with vengeance for popularity in the country and encouraging them to gain fame on the social network. It is also said that despite the existing restrictions, the possibility of connecting through a VPN application will further increase the importance of the issue.
It should be recalled that in September 2021, the Milliy Tiklanish Party also proposed to block the TikTok network. In December, the TikTok Fest show was canceled, and the Ministry of Culture said that the event would have a negative impact on the minds and worldviews of young people.
In July 2021, the social networks TikTok, Twitter, Skype, VKontakte and WeChat were restricted. In mid-December, TikTok users reported that the network had started to open.
At a youth forum in December last year, the khokim of Tashkent commented on the blocking of TikTok.
“TikTok is a single platform where the content is different. Everyone gets the content they need. But unfortunately, it seems that the people who were imposed the ban have accessed unnecessary content. I don’t think any platform will harm if you access the necessary content,” the city khokim said. At the same forum, Justice Minister Ruslanbek Davletov expressed support for freedom of information exchange. “In this century, you can never limit information by sitting on it and curbing it,” he said.
