Import duties on foreign cars reduced in Uzbekistan
On February 21, the President signed a resolution “On additional measures to stimulate the development of domestic market of motor vehicles”.
According to the document, the rates of customs duties on car imports will be reduced in two stages.
From the moment the document is signed, duties will be reduced from 30% to 15%, and additional coefficients, which take into account the engine power of the car, have fallen on average by half.
From January 1, 2023, additional coefficients will decrease, but the rate will remain at the level of 15%.
The new duties will apply only to new cars, from the date of issue of which no more than one year has passed at the time of crossing the customs border of Uzbekistan. Previously, it was no more than three years.
It should be recalled that on February 14, the head of state instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to prepare a draft resolution on reducing the rate of customs duties on car imports from 30% to 15% within three days.
