Citizens of Uzbekistan in active combat zones of Ukraine advised to stay in bunkers
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recommended that citizens of Uzbekistan who are in zones of active hostilities stay in protected bunkers. The evacuation of citizens from some Ukrainian cities will be organized after the complete end of hostilities, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Yusup Kabuljanov announced.
“Difficulties arose with the evacuation of our citizens from some settlements in Ukraine, where active hostilities are underway. In particular, these are the cities of Kharkiv, Sumy and Kherson. The evacuation of citizens from the above cities will be organized after the complete end of hostilities. Until this period, it is recommended to stay in protected bunkers,” he said.
In other cities where Uzbeks are located, work is underway to organize their departure to Lviv by train. In Kyiv, vehicles of Uzbek volunteers and embassies are used to evacuate compatriots.
Yusup Kabuljanov also said that despite the unstable situation in Kyiv and especially in its suburbs, work on the delivery of citizens to the station continues. Sending trains from Kyiv to the west is not suspended.
“Citizens of Uzbekistan can cross the Ukrainian-Polish border without visas at their own, on an individual basis, until March 15, 2022. At the same time, we emphasize that the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Poland fully controls the situation at the collection point and at the Katowice airport. The diplomatic mission rented buses that deliver our citizens from the border to the airport in an organized manner. In addition, hot meals, recreational facilities and medical care are organized, especially for mothers and children,” he said.
The MFA representative recalled that the special commission for evacuation via Poland from the very beginning disseminated information that the evacuation was allowed until March 15, 2022, and then the visa-free regime for foreign citizens would end and fines would be imposed.
