Gov’t adopts resolution approving regulation on preparation, import and distribution of religious materials

The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution on approval of the Regulations on the procedure for preparation, import and distribution of religious materials and conduct of relevant checks on them.

In accordance with the Law of Uzbekistan "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations":

Preparation, import and distribution of religious materials in the territory of Uzbekistan is carried out after obtaining a positive conclusion of theological examination in order to prevent the spread of ideas and views that lead to a violation of interfaith harmony and religious tolerance in society, inciting religious violence and chaos;

The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan shall establish the procedure for the preparation, import and distribution of religious materials.

The resolution establishes:

requirements for the preparation, import and distribution of religious materials by legal entities or individuals;
the procedure for applying to the competent authority for a theological examination;
conditions, terms and procedures for drawing up a theological examination.
