Assistant khokim in Yunusabad district detained for accepting $35,000 in bribe 

Employees of the State Security Service in Tashkent in cooperation with the regional department of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes held an operative event. 

In it, an official working as an assistant khokim was arrested at one of the mahallas in Yunusabad district while fraudulently receiving $35,000 from a local businessman.

It turned out that, abusing his official position, he promised to allocate 50 m2 of land in the neighborhood to the entrepreneur for the establishment of a minimarket, and to issue land documents under his name through acquaintances.

Employees of the Samarkand Regional SSS Department in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies also conducted a number of operative activities on this direction.

In particular, a specialist of the Samarkand city branch of the Regional Center for Entrepreneurship Support was detained while receiving $35,000 from an entrepreneur who wanted to engage in animal husbandry.

Allegedly, he had promised to register a 78-hectare plot of land belonging to one of the limited liability companies in Nurabad district under the entrepreneur’s name for $135,000.

Also, a senior inspector of the Samarkand district branch of the Inspectorate for Control over the Agro-Industrial Complex under the Cabinet of Ministers was detained when he agreed to sell 20 hectares belonging to his farm land for $50,000 and received $25,000 in advance.

In another case, a resident of Past Dargom district (born in 1975) was caught taking $20,000 out of the $170,000 required to register a 6-hectare land plot on the farm where he works as a business manager.

At present, criminal proceedings have been instituted under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. An investigation is underway.
