Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds negotiations with Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev traveled to Jeddah on August 17 as part of a state visit to Saudi Arabia.
The official welcoming ceremony of the President of Uzbekistan took place in the "Qasr al-Salam" palace in the city of Jeddah. Mirziyoyev was welcomed by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
After that, talks were held between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. At the beginning of the meeting, the leader of Uzbekistan asked to convey his greetings and best wishes to the king of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The parties discussed issues of further expanding mutually beneficial relations between the two countries in the political, trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The sides noted the need to create more favorable conditions for business contacts, to increase the volume of mutual trade, and to diversify its content. “I am sure that today’s historic meeting will enrich our cooperation with practical results and will be a “strong signal” for business relations. Businessmen of our countries are waiting for the results of our dialogue with anticipation and great interest,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The president called on leading Saudi companies to actively participate in the process of privatization of commercial banks, large industrial and infrastructure facilities in Uzbekistan. It was noted that both sides are interested in expanding the partnership in the energy and petrochemical sectors.
With the participation of the Saudi Development Fund, the implementation of infrastructure projects for the development of transport, water supply and electricity network facilities in the regions of the country was considered.
At the meeting, special attention was paid to strengthening cultural and humanitarian relations. The sides exchanged views on international and regional issues as well.
The parties voiced mutual interest in establishing a dialogue in the field of security, consolidating peace in Afghanistan and helping to restore the economy of this country. The President of Uzbekistan welcomed Saudi Arabia’s status as a dialogue partner in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Signed documents were exchanged based on the results of the negotiations. A joint statement on the further expansion of comprehensive partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia was adopted. 15 documents on cooperation in the fields of energy, customs, civil aviation, tourism, agriculture, health and labor relations were inked by the governments and ministries of the two countries.
