Uzarchive agency shows original copy of the Supreme Council’s decision to declare state independence
On August 31, 1991, at an extraordinary session of the Supreme Council in Tashkent, the decision “On declaring the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted. By the same decision, September 1 was declared Independence Day, as well as a holiday.
The original copy of the Supreme Council’s decision on the declaration of state independence has been published by the Uzarchive agency.
It should be reminded that on August 31, 1991, the law “On the foundations of state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted.
Earlier, on June 20, 1990, at the second session of the Supreme Council of the Uzbek SSR, the declaration of sovereignty had been approved.
