Over 140 people drowned in Uzbekistan during summer season
Almost every second drowned person was a minor.
In Uzbekistan, 142 citizens drowned during the summer season, said Samandar Khikmatullayev, deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
It is noted that 51 cases occurred as a result of swimming in prohibited water bodies, and 85 cases - due to the negligence of citizens. 45.3% of those who drowned were minors.
85 people drowned while crossing bodies of water through pipelines for water, gas and sewage, as well as due to non-compliance with safety rules in coastal areas of water bodies.
