‘Uzbekistan is committed to respecting the territorial integrity of other countries’ – MFA
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding the increasing number of Russian citizens in Uzbekistan following the mobilization in Russia.
The message says, in part:
“Uzbekistan carries out its foreign policy based on national interests and fundamental principles, including openness, equality, respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states.
We stand for the early formation of conditions for resolving the current situation through political and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms of international law.
Regarding the increase in the number of citizens of the Russian Federation arriving on the territory of Uzbekistan, we note that the issue of their stay or possible extradition is regulated by the legislation of our country, as well as bilateral and multilateral legal acts.
At the same time, citizens of foreign countries who have not committed an offense are not subject to forced deportation.”
