Citizen sentenced to 15-day administrative arrest dies in a hospital in Samarkand

According to the information service of the Samarkand Regional DIA, by the decision of the Akdarya District Court for Criminal Cases dated October 25, 2022, a citizen who evaded paying alimony for a year was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest under Part 1 of Article 47-4 of the Administrative Responsibility Code.

On that day, the citizen was taken to a special reception center for detaining persons administratively.

In the special detention center, the detainee had a seizure, he fell, hit his head on the wall corner inside the room and was injured.

He was immediately provided with first aid by the DIA staff. Then the citizen was taken to the Samarkand branch of the Republican Center for Emergency Medical Care, where he was also provided with medical assistance.

After being returned to the special detention center, the citizen started to talk to himself in the room and had signs of a mental disorder, therefore, according to a letter from the head of the special detention center, he was sent to the regional psychiatric hospital to check his mental condition.

On October 28, 2022, the citizen died in the regional psychiatric hospital located in the Khalkabad mahalla, Urgut district. The prosecutor’s office is investigating the situation.

It is noted that now a forensic medical examination has been appointed to determine the cause of death. Also, investigative activities have been launched into the actions of police officers and doctors.
