Gov’t worries that WTO membership will “hurt” the auto industry

The Ministry of Foreign Trade is of the opinion that membership in the World Trade Organization “may have a negative impact” on a number of sectors of the economy, in particular the automobile industry. For this reason, the ministry is studying the consequences of joining the organization. An official of the ministry told Kun.uz that the results of the study will be taken into account when forming Uzbekistan’s position in the negotiations on WTO accession.
