Leading Canadian universities open branches in Uzbekistan
As part of the 29th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OSCE in Poland, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Norov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Mélanie Joly.
At the meeting, the current state of Uzbek-Canadian cooperation in diplomatic, political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other fields and prospects for its development were discussed. The need to expand the legal base of bilateral relations and strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue was emphasized.
Particular attention was paid to the active development of economic diplomacy by attracting Canadian investors to projects in various sectors of Uzbekistan, establishing relations between representatives of the business circles of the two countries.
Interest was expressed in expanding scientific and educational relations through mutual visits and implementation of academic programs with Canadian universities, opening of branches of leading Canadian universities in Uzbekistan.
The prospects of establishing sister city relations between the regions of the two countries, implementing joint projects in the areas of ecology, digitization and “green economy” were discussed.
