Ads in Uzbek language inviting people to serve in Russian army in exchange for citizenship removed from buses in Moscow
Advertisements placed on buses in Moscow invited people from Central Asian countries to join the Russian army in Uzbek, Tajik and Kyrgyz languages, and in return to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner. It was also reported by Kun.uz | Online channel on December 9.
The SUE Mosgortrans, which is responsible for buses and electric buses in Moscow, confirmed that such advertisements were indeed displayed, but informed that such announcements have been removed at the moment.
Mosgortrans informed TASS agency that the announcements were placed on the buses of MTs1, MTs2 and MTs3 routes for two months based on the request of the management of the “Sakharovo” migration center. “At the same time, the message was removed from the air,” the press service said.
According to the amendments approved by the State Duma in September, foreigners who sign a one-year service contract in the armed forces of the Russian Federation can obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner. After that, the mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, announced that in cooperation with the Defense Ministry of Russia, the infrastructure for accepting foreign citizens into military service will be established at the “Sakharovo” migration center.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan appealed to Uzbeks abroad and warned that recruitment to the military structures of foreign countries would cause a responsibility.
