Uzbekistan recognized as best chess country of 2022
Uzbekistan was recognized as the best chess country of the year after the sensational victories of Uzbek chess players in international arenas over the past year.
In particular, in the “Masters” category of the “Tata Steel Chess-2023” international tournament held in the Netherlands for the past two weeks, Nodirbek Abdusattarov, a member of the Uzbekistan national team, led from the 5th round, and in the end took the 2nd place due to his only defeat in the last round, while another chess player from Uzbekistan, Javokhir Sindorov, took 3rd place in the “Challengers” category.
At the end of the international tournament held in the Netherlands, Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Javokhir Sindorov received the “Tour D’or” - “Golden Tower” prize, which is awarded to the best chess country of the year. The famous French grandmaster Bachar Kouatly presented the European chess prize to the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan.
It should be recalled that in the 44th World Chess Olympiad held in Chennai, India, in 2022, Uzbekistan became the Olympic champion among 188 participating teams. As a result, for the first time, 4 chess players from Uzbekistan were among the TOP-100 in the FIDE rating.
