40 billion soums worth of damage caused to nature in 2022

Last year, the Inspectorate for Environmental Supervision revealed more than 45,000 violations in the field of ecology, including 4,600 cases of illegal cutting of trees and 116 cases of poaching.

In 2022, 45,300 violations in the field of nature protection were identified in Uzbekistan. This was announced at an AIMC briefing by the head of the Inspectorate for Environmental Supervision Adkham Kurbonov.

The total amount of fines and damage to nature amounted to 40 billion soums.

During this period, materials on 1,409 cases were transferred to law enforcement agencies, fines in the amount of 5.8 billion soums were imposed, and criminal cases were initiated in 36 cases.

More than 300 objects of the animal world, 6,442 kg of medicinal and other plants, 2,433 kg of fish and more than 550 inventory items were confiscated from offenders.

It is noted that the seized animals were returned to the wild, firewood and fish were donated to low-income families and charity homes.

446 business entities were also checked. 379 violations of legislation in the field of nature protection were revealed, fines in the amount of 437.8 million soums were imposed and fines in the amount of 50.2 billion soums were imposed for environmental pollution.

As a result of 25,701 operative activities, 26,117 offenses were revealed, including 116 facts of poaching. Fines in the amount of 9 billion 471 million soums were imposed on violators, seven criminal cases were initiated.

As material evidence, 4 firearms, 280 prohibited items, 1 car, 31 boats, 5,357 kg of fish and 231 kg of meat, and 1,425 felled trees were seized from the offenders.

In addition, 4,673 cases of illegal felling of trees and shrubs were identified, fines in the amount of more than 7 billion soums were imposed. The amount of damage caused to nature amounted to 10 billion soums.
