Individuals trying to sell a radioactive device for $1 million detained in Samarkand
In an operative event conducted in cooperation with the Samarkand Regional SSS Department and the regional DIA staff, persons involved in the sale of radioactive and toxic devices were arrested.
M.S., who was born in Andijan region, was previously convicted of several Articles of the Criminal Code, and his partner from Andijan, R.S. and J.O., a resident of Samarkand, created a criminal group in collusion with each other and planned to earn easy money.
As it turns out, R.S., according to the suggestion of his criminal partner M.S., brought radioactive and toxic devices allegedly used for military purposes to the city of Samarkand from his acquaintance in Andijan region, lived in one of the hotels in Samarkand until a reliable buyer was found.
Later, M.S., via his acquaintance in Samarkand J.O., agreed to sell these devices to a local citizen for a total of $1 million and asked for $200,000 in advance. These individuals were caught with material evidence while selling an improvised device containing 1 kg of mercury to a local citizen for $200,000.
On the above fact, investigations are being conducted.
