According to the Financial Monitoring Agency of Kazakhstan (FMA), Russian grain is being exported to other countries under the guise of Kazakhstan, TASS reported with reference to the agency.

According to FMA, one of the local enterprises exported 8.3 thousand tons of Russian grain worth one billion tenge ($2.2 million) to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan in 2021-2022.

In order to obtain a preferential export tariff, a Kazakh company used fake invoices from local farms claiming that the grain belonged to Kazakhstan. Gray schemes made it possible to avoid the transit tariff. Currently, an investigation is underway.

In 2022, Russian farmers produced a record amount of grain – 153.8 million tons. However, due to Western sanctions and disruptions in logistics, grain is reportedly piling up in warehouses, posing a threat to Russian farmers.
