Uzbekistan’s population density on the rise
According to the preliminary data of the Statistics Agency, as of January 1, 2023, the population density in Uzbekistan was 80.2 people per sq. km.

This is up by 1.6 people compared to the same period last year.
Reportedly, the figure was reasonably lower three decades ago. In 1991, when Uzbekistan gained its independence, the population density in the country was 46.1 people per sq. km.
The population density by province:
- Karakalpakstan R. - 11.9 people
- Andijan region - 772.3 people
- Bukhara region - 50 people
- Jizzakh region - 69.6 people
- Kashkadarya region - 121.9 people
- Navoi region - 9.5 people
- Namangan region - 402.8 people
- Samarkand region - 245.6 people
- Surkhandarya region - 139.7 people
- Syrdarya region - 209.7 people
- Tashkent region - 197.7 people
- Fergana region - 588.3 people
- Khorezm region - 323.9 people
- Tashkent city - 6,592.8 people
