Head of the Department for Communications and Information Policy of the Presidential Administration Saida Mirziyoyeva said that underage girls who lived in an orphanage and were sexually abused by officials in the Khorezm region have been taken under protection.
“Today we have ensured that the safety of three injured girls from the Khorezm orphanage is ensured. Their safety, moral and physical recovery is now a priority.
We must create a system to respond to such cases and, most importantly, to prevent them. It's time to toughen the laws and create norms of zero tolerance for violence at all levels.
The only thing that gives me hope in this whole situation is the voice of civil society, without which we would probably be blind to what is happening around us.
I thank all the media and activists who were not indifferent and expressed their civil position on this case. Together we are strong in creating a working justice system!” Mirziyoyeva wrote.
