US government sponsors global seismic network station in Uzbekistan

After almost 2.5 years of preparation, the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and the Ministry of Emergency (MES) Situation’s Republican Center for Seismic Forecasting Monitoring announced the installation of a new, state-of-the-art seismic station at Karasai, outside Jizzakh City on May 3.  U.S. Ambassador Jonathan Henick and the Deputy Minister of MES, Muhitdinov Muhtar, cut a ribbon inaugurating the new seismic station.
