Two defendants accused of “Nukus events” sentenced in absentia

The leader of the “Alga Karakalpakstan” movement Amanbay Sagidullayev and the representative of the Karakalpak diaspora in Kazakhstan Niyetbay Urazbayev were found guilty by the court of organizing the Nukus events. The defendants were sentenced to 18 and 12 years in absentia.
