Four boarding houses in Issyk-Kul to be transferred to Uzbek entrepreneurs

Kyrgyzstan plans to hand over four boarding houses to Uzbek investors, Azattyk.org reported with reference to the words of Kanatbek Turgunbekov, director of the State Property Management Agency of Kyrgyzstan.

Boarding houses “Dilorom”, “Golden Sands”, “Rohat” and “Buston” on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake will be transferred to investors from Uzbekistan for 49 years.

According to Turgunbekov, the Kyrgyz authorities expect to attract foreign investment in the amount of $15-20 million in each of the transferred boarding houses.

On August 15, an Uzbek delegation led by PM Abdulla Aripov visited and inspected the “Enesay” boarding house, formerly called “Dilorom”. Then Turgunbekov said that the object would be transferred to the use of investors from Uzbekistan.

“There is a question of attracting investments in our boarding houses, in “Dilorom” (“Enesay”), “Golden Sands” (“Bosteri”) and “Rohat” (“Altyn-Jay”). That is, if they attract investments, they will manage,” the Kyrgyz official shared.

Azattyk recalled that in 2016 the government of Kyrgyzstan issued a decree on the privatization of four boarding houses used by Uzbekistan in Issyk-Kul during the Soviet period. In addition, the names of boarding houses were changed by translating them into the Kyrgyz language.

In 2020, Kyrgyzstan planned to transfer the boarding houses “Golden Sands”, “Rohat” and “Dilorom” to private ownership. At that time, several companies from Uzbekistan opposed the sale, accusing the authorities of a neighboring country of illegally expropriating property.

It was noted that the NBU was the owner and managed the “Rohat-NBU” boarding house, “Asakabank” – the “Dilorom” boarding house, Uzsanoatqurilishbank – the “Buston” boarding house, Tashkent Mechanical Plant – the “Golden Sands” boarding house.
