Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets with Ilhom Aliyev in Baku

The presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discussed the prospects for development of bilateral practical cooperation.

A meeting of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Azerbaijan Ilhom Aliyev was held at the residence of “Zugulba”.

The head of our state expressed his gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan for the invitation to visit him and for the warm hospitality shown to the delegation of Uzbekistan.

The leaders exchanged views on further expansion of multifaceted strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

It was noted with satisfaction that relations between parliaments, governments, regions, foreign political and other agencies, and analytical circles have been activated.

In recent years, the volume of mutual trade has been increasing steadily. The number of joint ventures has increased 4 times.

The establishment of car assembly, silk and textile clusters of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan is an example of effective cooperation.

As a result of the business forum held on the eve of the visit, a significant set of new cooperation projects and trade agreements was formed.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discussed the prospects of expanding industrial cooperation in energy, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, urban development, agriculture, minerals, textiles, silk, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering and other sectors.

In order to support and promote joint projects, the importance of ensuring the effective operation of the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan investment company was noted.

Special attention was paid to development of cooperation in the field of transport and transit. The need to increase cargo transportation through the Middle Corridor, joint development of logistics and port infrastructure was emphasized.

The presidents noted the importance of organizing regular meetings of the heads of regions of the two countries to develop interregional cooperation, to jointly develop and promote new cooperation projects.
