566 pedestrians injured in road accidents in Tashkent over 9 months
Most of the incidents occurred when crossing unmarked areas for pedestrians and at prohibited traffic lights.
Rafikjon Jalilov, the head of the Tashkent city DIA traffic safety department, made an appeal to the residents of the capital.
“Getting to the destination safely requires each of us to strictly follow the traffic rules. Despite the creation of favorable conditions for pedestrian movement by our state, traffic accidents with serious consequences still occur on the roads,” the appeal reads.
It is reported that 539 traffic accidents took place in Tashkent during the 9 months of 2023, in which 566 pedestrians received various injuries.
It is noted that most of them happened when passing through areas not designated for pedestrians and at the prohibited light of the traffic light.
“Dear parents, do not forget that your minor children must strictly follow the traffic rules. Dear road users, we urge you to be vigilant! Please do not be indifferent to the safety of yourself and others while driving on roads!” the head of the Tashkent city DIA traffic safety department said.
