Uzbekistan to take Non-Aligned Movement chairmanship in 2027-2029

The delegation led by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhrom Aloyev, took part in the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held on January 19-20 in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, more than 100 state delegations, including heads of state, government, foreign affairs agencies and their deputies, took part in the event.

At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on current issues on the international agenda, as well as suggestions on using the existing potential of the Non-Aligned Movement to ensure global peace and stability and socio-economic development.

The delegation of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to all members of the movement for supporting Uzbekistan’s candidacy for the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement in 2027-2029, and informed the participants about the main directions of large-scale and intensive reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in all spheres of society.

Special attention was paid to the importance of developing cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, improving economic and financial systems, combating climate change, and protecting the environment. It was noted the need to strengthen mutual cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of science and innovative technologies, to support the young generation.
