Tashkent tops global list of cities with highest air pollution surpassing Lahore and Delhi
Today, February 21, Tashkent ascended to the number one spot among the world's cities for air pollution levels.
According to the IQAir portal, at 08:50, the concentration of fine PM2.5 particulate matter in Tashkent's air reached 196 µg/m3 – a level considered "harmful".
Lahore (Pakistan) was placed second in the ranking, followed by Delhi (India).
The top ten also included Dhaka (Bangladesh), Yangon (Myanmar), Kathmandu (Nepal), Hanoi (Vietnam), Jakarta (Indonesia), Milan (Italy), and Kolkata (India).
According to the World Health Organization, PM2.5 particulate matter represents the most significant health risk among air pollution indicators.
