Uzbekistan ranked 106th in the Human Development Index

Uzbekistan ranked 106th out of 193 countries and territories of the world in the Human Development Index prepared by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The index provided data for 2022. Compared to 2021, the country dropped one position.

Countries were assessed on three key indicators of human development - life expectancy, expected and actual years of schooling, and gross national income measured at purchasing power parity per capita.

With an average life expectancy of 71.7 years, Uzbeks study for 12 years, and the gross per capita income is $8,056.

The Human Development Index of Uzbekistan in 2022 was 0.727 (maximum value – 1.000). The country entered the category of countries with high HDI. In the ranking, Uzbekistan is located between Egypt and Vietnam.

Of the Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan took 67th place in the index, Turkmenistan – 94th, Kyrgyzstan – 117th and Tajikistan – 126th.

The leader of the index was Switzerland with an indicator of 0.967. It is followed by Norway and Iceland. The top five also included Hong Kong and Denmark.
