President presses symbolic button to start construction of the first seven facilities on New Tashkent territory (video)

On April 3, a ceremony was held to launch the construction of the first facilities on the territory of New Tashkent: the campuses of the Yangi Uzbekistan University and the Tashkent State Pedagogical University, the National Library, the National Theater, the International Research Center, the Museum of Literature, the Alisher Navoi School of Creativity, as well as the National Maqom Center.

The new campus of the Tashkent State Pedagogical University will include educational buildings for 20 thousand students, a dormitory for 5 thousand places, a kindergarten for 300 places, a school for 616 places, an academic lyceum for 588 places, a modern sports complex, a palace of culture, an amphitheater and other facilities.

Based on the experience of universities included in the top 300 world rankings, an innovative pedagogical cluster will be created at the university, ensuring the continuity of the “kindergarten – school – university” chain.

A modern campus for the Yangi Uzbekistan University will also be built in New Uzbekistan, including educational buildings for 10 thousand students, a canteen with 1,150 seats, a library and a compact museum, a sports complex and an Olympic swimming pool. Dormitories with 2 thousand beds for students and housing for 286 teachers and staff will also be built.

The next project is a new complex for the National Library of Uzbekistan. All conditions will be created there for the proper storage of more than 10 million copies of literature and high-quality service for 1,420 readers at a time. The total area will be 30 thousand square meters.

In New Tashkent, a majestic National Theater building will also be built based on international standards, which will provide amenities for both artists and spectators. In the future, it will become a kind of creative laboratory for all theaters in the country.

The city will also have a unique spirituality complex, uniting an international research center, a school of creativity, a literature museum named after Alisher Navoi and the National Maqom Center.

“I believe that New Tashkent will become a real center of science, education and culture not only for our country, but also for the entire region,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
