Tokayev sends condolences to Mirziyoyev over road accident victims
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a telegram of condolence to Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, expressing his deep sorrow over the tragic death of eight Uzbekistani citizens in a car accident on the Shymkent-Samara highway.
The Kazakh leader asked that his sincere condolences be conveyed to the families of the deceased.
As a reminder, on April 3, a traffic accident occurred on the Samara-Shymkent highway involving a Volvo truck and a Toyota Alphard minivan, resulting in the minivan driver and seven passengers (all citizens of Uzbekistan) dying at the scene of the accident.
A criminal case has been initiated on this incident.
By presidential order, a governmental commission has been formed to organize the repatriation of the victims' bodies to their homeland. For this purpose, a military aircraft from the Ministry of Defense has been allocated.
