Yunusabad dekhkan market may be renovated

Foreign investors offered to invest $40 million and rebuild the Yunusabad dekhkan market into a six-story one with two additional floors underground.

The Yunusabad dekhkan market and the Ahmad Donish market in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent are planned to be made six-story. The President of Uzbekistan stated this at a session of the capital’s council.

The head of state noted that in conditions of extremely limited space in Tashkent, it is necessary to develop industry and trade through the vertical growth of the existing infrastructure.

“For example, the Yunusabad dekhkan market with an area of 4.8 hectares is stuffy due to the fact that it is one-story. Chairman of the Board of Aloqabank Irisbekova said that foreign investors offered to invest $40 million in the construction of the market with two floors underground and six floors above ground and create 2,500 jobs,” the president said.

In the Yunusabad district, in a small industrial zone with an area of 16.5 hectares, there are 91 buildings and structures. But due to the reconstruction of 77 thousand square meters of buildings into 3-4 floors, an additional 200 thousand square meters can be created, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The President also proposed to transfer old buildings of eight government agencies on Amir Temur Avenue in Tashkent to entrepreneurs for the reconstruction and construction of commercial facilities, offices and hotels with underground parking.
