Uzbekistan Airways asks passengers not to take harmala plant to Russia
Uzbekistan Airways has reminded passengers traveling to Russia that Peganum harmala (commonly known in the region as "isiriq") has been included in Russia's list of controlled plants. Russian authorities say it contains narcotic substances.

Uzbekistan Airways has advised passengers bound for Russia to refrain from carrying the harmala plant with them.
According to a decree by the Government of the Russian Federation, the harmala plant has been listed in Russia as containing narcotic substances and is subject to control.
Any actions related to bringing harmala into the country are punishable under article 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
"Taking the above into account, we ask you not to carry this type of plant in your hand luggage or checked baggage," the report states.
