SSS detains individuals promising tender victory in road construction worth 42 billion UZS
Two residents of Andijan entered into collusion, promising the head of an enterprise in the road construction sector a win in the tender through high-ranking acquaintances. They were detained while receiving an advance payment.
According to the State Security Service (SSS), the two citizens requested 10% of the project's cost, i.e., 4.2 billion UZS, for the victory in the tender for the construction of the 4-kilometer highway 4P-112 in the Asaka district.
Operatives from the SSS and the Department for Combatting Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office caught the citizens red-handed receiving an advance payment of $20,000.
A criminal case has been initiated against the offenders under Article 168 (Fraud) and Article 211 (Giving Bribes) of the Criminal Code. The suspects were taken into custody.
