Deputy governor of Kukdala district suspected of corruption
Employees of the State Security Service and the PGO Department for Combating Economic Crimes detained the deputy governor and the head of the transport department, the SSS press service reported.
According to the department, the deputy governor of the Kukdala district (Kashkadarya region) demanded $5,000 in exchange for appointing a private enterprise that produces film products as a supplier of film to local farmers as part of the “Every family is an entrepreneur” program.
He was detained while receiving 15 million soums of the requested amount. During the pre-investigation check, it turned out that he had previously received 10 million soums for his “help”.
The State Security Service notes that he had previously been convicted under Article 167 of the Criminal Code (theft by misappropriation or embezzlement).
Law enforcement agencies also detained the head of a company engaged in passenger transportation in Andijan.
It is reported that he promised a citizen, through his high-ranking acquaintances, to establish a company under his name and win the tender for the provision of paid services for the transportation of passengers along the “Eski shahar – Oltinkul” route.
For this he allegedly demanded $7,500 and was detained upon receiving this amount.
During the pre-investigation check, law enforcement officers discovered that the acting head of the Andijan Regional Transport Department was connected with this case and detained him. It is noted that he was also previously convicted.
