Sierra Leone's first ambassador accredited in Uzbekistan
Today, Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov received Sierra Leone's first Ambassador to the country, Mohamed Yongawo.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan is pleased to welcome His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Yongawo of Sierra Leone to Uzbekistan and to accept his letters of credence," the head of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted on his Telegram channel. "There is a vast untapped potential for enriching our bilateral ties. We wish the Ambassador every success in unlocking extensive opportunities across all spheres during his tenure in our country."
Uzbekistan and Sierra Leone established diplomatic relations on April 28, 2023. A joint communiqué was signed in New York by the permanent representatives of Uzbekistan and Sierra Leone to the United Nations.
The Republic of Sierra Leone became the 143rd country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations.
