PGO detains gold bar sellers in Samarkand
In the Narpay district of Samarkand region, individuals engaged in the sale of pure gold bars have been detained.
A swift operation was carried out in the Narpay district by the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office along with the State Security Service of the Samarkand region.
During the operation, citizens Sh. G. and I. K. were caught red-handed selling pure gold bars, which had been illegally mined and processed into coin shapes, to citizen Z. I. for $2,000 and 180 million UZS.
According to the forensic examination, the material obtained as physical evidence weighed 143.9 grams and was found to comprise 99.5 percent pure gold and 0.06 percent silver.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident under Article 177 of the Criminal Code (illegal acquisition or transfer of foreign currency values), and investigative actions are underway.
