Young man jailed for 5 years for insulting President Mirziyoyev on the internet
A young man was sentenced to prison for writing various derogatory comments on a Facebook post about the President of Uzbekistan. In addition, he left state-opposed comments.
In Namangan, a man born in 1996 was convicted for writing insulting remarks against the president.
It was established that the convicted man traveled from Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan on September 26, 2016, and without obtaining a special exit permit sticker on his civilian passport, which allows travel to all countries of the world, he entered Iran on September 30, 2016, violating the regulations and illegally leaving for a foreign country.
Furthermore, on May 8, 2023, he posted a screenshot of an article titled "The President of Uzbekistan will participate in the events dedicated to the 78th anniversary of Victory in Moscow" taken from his Facebook profile, where he insulted and slandered the President of Uzbekistan.
Additionally, he made comments against the state on various Facebook posts.
By court decision, the offender was found guilty of committing crimes stipulated in part 3 of Article 158 and part 1 of Article 223 of the Criminal Code and was unequivocally sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment.
