The unique geographical location of our country and the high pace of industrial development increase the role of railway transport. In recent years, the railways of Uzbekistan have come a long way in development. A modern infrastructure was created that meets the needs of the population and economic sectors, as well as a comprehensive railway network.

During the years of independence, more than 2 thousand 400 kilometers of new railways were built, more than 3 thousand kilometers were electrified. The domestic railway industry has the capabilities of heavy engineering and ferrous metallurgy. Today, this sector reliably and effectively connects all regions and regions of our country.

Thanks to this, Uzbekistan, with its modern transport communications and high transit potential, has become an important hub of international railways connecting East with West, South with North. The active investment policy of our state and attractive conditions for business have strengthened its importance as a transport hub at the intersection of trade routes.

In this regard, priority is given to the continuation of work on the construction and modernization of railways. Projects in this direction were discussed at the presentation.

Particular attention is paid to the issues of further expansion of transport and logistics potential and its effective use. The need for consistent diversification of transport corridors was emphasized to improve entrepreneurs’ access to the world market and increase export opportunities.

Practical measures for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which will become an important component of trans-regional ties within the framework of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, were considered. According to experts, this transport corridor will contribute to the accelerated development of not only the three countries, but also the entire Central Asian region.

Information is presented on the progress of processes to create new transport corridors that will connect Central Asia with South Asia.

The head of state also gave instructions on the development of aviation infrastructure, the transformation of airports into international transit hubs, and the construction and repair of modern highways.
