Uzbekistan to supply Kazakhstan with over 900 million cubic meters of water for irrigation season
Water delivery will be conducted through the "Dostyk" interstate canal.
The 86th meeting of the Interstate Coordination Water Management Commission (ICWMC), which includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, took place, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan reported.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached for the 2024 irrigation period, according to which Kazakhstan will receive 922 million cubic meters of water from Uzbekistan through the "Dostyk" interstate canal.
Additionally, the Shardara reservoir in the Turkestan region has accumulated 4.8 billion cubic meters of water. The Toktogul reservoir in Kyrgyzstan, whose water is used for irrigation of fields in the south of Kazakhstan, has gathered 8 billion cubic meters.
