Uzbekistan national team secures first place at Asian Kurash Championship
From June 6 to June 10, the 13th Asian Kurash Championship among adults was held in the capital of Iran.
The competition was organized in order to popularize the Uzbek national kurash.
The head of the administration of the International Kurash Association, Mansur Mirzayev, and the President of the Asian-Oceanic Kurash Confederation, Komil Ruziev, in their speech at the opening ceremony of the tournament noted that, under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan, a lot of work has been done to popularize Uzbek kurash in the international arena, and regularly hold continental and world championships.
In recent years, kurash has gained widespread recognition as an international sport, and Uzbek terms such as “kurash”, “halol”, “ta’zim”, “tukhta” and “yonbosh” have gained a strong place in the international sports vocabulary.
Over 200 wrestlers from more than 20 countries competed at the Asian Championships, held in Tehran. In the competition, members of the Uzbekistan team took 1st place in the overall standings. In particular, the Uzbekistan men's team won 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals. Representatives of the Uzbekistan women’s team also took first place in the team event with 3 gold and 4 silver medals.
In the men’s competition, the Asian championship in their weight categories was celebrated by Murodil Murodillaev (-60 kg), Otabek Khasanov (-66 kg), Arslonbek Todjiyev (-81 kg), Umar Bozorov (-90 kg) and Shermuhammad Jandriyev (-100 kg). In the women’s competition, the winners were Khilola Ortikboyeva (-52 kg), Shakhnoza Bozorova (-70 kg) and Pokizakhan Kamoliddinova (-87 kg).
