Universities of Uzbekistan expanding cooperation with Austrian University of Applied Sciences

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Ibragimov held negotiations with the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Austrian University of Applied Sciences Krems (IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems) Heinz Boyer and the executive director of the university Udo Brendel.

At the meeting, a presentation of the university’s activities was made, and views were exchanged on cooperation with Uzbekistan. Long-term plans and priorities related to the development of joint educational programs were discussed.

On October 22, 2018, the first Uzbek-Austrian joint faculty in Uzbekistan was opened at the Tashkent State University of Economics together with the Krems University of Applied Sciences. Since 2019, undergraduate students began studying at the united faculty in the areas of “Management specializing in exports” and “Management in the field of tourism and entertainment”.

Heinz Boyer noted with pleasure that he visited Uzbekistan in early May of this year and that the University of Krems signed a mutual cooperation agreement with the Tashkent State Economics University (TSEU) to continue the joint educational program. He also said that, together with TSEU, an agreement had been reached to organize a symposium in Tashkent in the first ten days of October, dedicated to the tourism potential of Uzbekistan and international experience in this field.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of projects aimed at expanding cooperation in creating modern tourism infrastructure and training personnel in the field of tourism.

The expediency of organizing a visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan to Austria was noted and an agreement was reached on close cooperation in elaborating this issue.
