Uzhydromet warns of potential floods in seven regions due to heavy rains
From July 17 to 22, heavy rains are expected in the mountainous regions of seven provinces, potentially causing flash floods. Uzhydromet has urged residents and drivers to take precautionary measures.
Due to the expected rains from July 17 to 22, flash floods may occur in the foothills and mountainous areas of the country, the director of the Uzhydromet Agency, Sherzod Habibullaev, said.
Areas where heavy rains are expected:
• Kashkadarya Region: Yakkabog, Dekhkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi, Guzar districts;
• Surkhandarya Region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Altinsay, Denau, Boysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, Muzrabat districts;
• Jizzakh Region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, Yangiabad districts;
• Tashkent Region: Ohangaron, Bustonlik, Parkent, Piskent, Urta Chirchik, Yuxari Chirchik districts, and Angren, Almalyk cities;
• Namangan Region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chartak, Chust, Namangan, Yangiqo‘rg‘on districts;
• Fergana Region: Sokh, Fergana, Besharik districts, and Shohimardon area;
• Andijan Region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgontepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khojaobod, Marhamat districts, and Khanabad city.
Residents, vacationers in the foothill and mountainous areas, and drivers traveling through these regions are advised to take precautionary measures.
“There is a possibility of rainwater accumulation across the republic, which could lead to flooding in certain areas,” the statement said.
