Over 12,000 drivers penalized for drunk driving in six months

In the first half of this year, criminal courts reviewed 285,651 administrative offenses involving 342,109 individuals, according to the Supreme Court.

Administrative penalties, including fines, confiscation of items used in the offense, deprivation of special rights, administrative detention, deportation of foreign nationals and stateless persons, and compulsory community service, were applied to 222,101 individuals.

Due to reconciliation, 39,935 individuals were exempted from administrative responsibility.

The majority of administrative offenses reviewed involved minor hooliganism, unlicensed passenger transportation activities, failure to comply with lawful demands of law enforcement officers, insult, traffic violations by drivers resulting in minor injuries or significant material damage, violations of rules for using electricity, heat energy, and gas, violations of trade or service regulations, consumption of alcohol in public places, and fire safety violations.

For traffic violations resulting in minor injuries or significant material damage, 17,982 cases involving 18,403 individuals were reviewed, with administrative penalties such as fines and revocation of driving licenses imposed on 11,568 individuals.

Additionally, for administrative offenses related to drunk driving or refusal to undergo sobriety checks, 14,427 cases involving 14,556 individuals were reviewed, resulting in administrative penalties such as fines, revocation of driving privileges, and administrative detention for 12,867 individuals.

In appellate proceedings, 4,448 administrative cases involving 5,417 individuals were reviewed. Decisions of first-instance courts were annulled for 1,446 individuals, and court decisions were altered for 1,500 individuals.

In cassation proceedings, 2,183 administrative cases involving 2,394 individuals were reviewed. Decisions of first-instance courts were annulled for 786 individuals, and court decisions were altered for 611 individuals.

The Judicial Panel for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court reviewed 852 administrative cases involving 935 individuals in supervisory proceedings. Decisions of lower courts were annulled for 187 individuals, and court decisions were altered for 226 individuals.
