Uzbekistan's Central Bank aims to maintain 9% inflation with systematic measures

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed the Central Bank to systematically work towards keeping inflation at 9% by the end of the year, stated the head of the Central Bank, Mamarizo Nurmuratov.

"The current state of inflation, expectations, and main factors indicate that we will undoubtedly achieve this forecast," said Nurmuratov in an interview with "Uzbekistan 24."

He also noted that in the first half of the year, the Central Bank allocated 127 trillion UZS to support the economy and finance. The main focus was on small and medium-sized businesses. The number of loans issued to individual entrepreneurs doubled compared to the same period last year.

In 2023, inflation was 8.7%. This was the lowest figure since 2016 (5.7%).
