Heavy rain forecast prompts flood warnings in Uzbekistan's mountainous areas
From July 23 to 26, heavy rains are expected, which could lead to flash floods in mountainous areas. Citizens living in foothill and mountainous regions are advised to take precautionary measures.
Due to the expected rains from July 23 to 26 of this year, flash floods may occur in the foothill and mountainous regions of the republic, says Sherzod Habibullayev, Director of the UzHydromet Agency.
According to him, flash floods may occur in the following areas:
- Tashkent Region — Ohangaron, Bustanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Urta Chirchik, Yukori Chirchik districts and the cities of Angren, Olmalyk;
- Namangan Region — Pop, Kosonsoy, Chartok, Chust, Namangan, Yangikurgan districts;
- Fergana Region — Sukh, Fergana, Besharyk districts and the Shokhimardon area;
- Andijan Region — Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurkantepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khujaobod, Marhamat districts and the city of Khonobod.
Citizens living in foothill and mountainous regions, vacationers, and drivers traveling through mountainous areas are advised to take precautionary measures.
Additionally, there is a possibility of rainwater accumulation in the Tashkent region and the Fergana Valley area, which could lead to flooding.
