Starting July 26, the border customs post "Fergana" of the Fergana Regional Customs Administration and the "Ak-Kiya" customs post, located at the entrance to Shahimardan, have switched to a round-the-clock operation mode.

"Citizens traveling to Shahimardan for leisure can now move through these customs facilities at any time. We hope this news will give a special boost to the development of domestic and foreign tourism in our country," the statement said.

This development became a reality as part of the agreements reached at the meeting between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Sadyr Japarov on July 18, 2024, in Tashkent.

During the state visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan, the parties discussed the effective use of border customs posts located at the borders of both countries.

Subsequently, the heads of customs and border services of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan jointly reviewed the operations of the border customs posts in the Fergana region, discussed the possibilities of creating new customs posts and the effective use of existing ones, and preventing congestion of people and transport at the customs posts.

At a meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev on July 12 in Fergana, it was noted that since the "Vodil" and "Ak-Kiya" checkpoints do not have international status, foreign tourists are forced to travel to Shahimardan and Yordon through Osh.

The President emphasized that relevant negotiations are being conducted with the neighboring country and instructed officials to develop master plans for the villages of Shahimardan and Yordon, as well as the town of Vodil.
