Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Fumio Kishida discuss Japan’s earthquake and rescheduling of summit and official visit
On August 9, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a phone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
During the conversation, President Mirziyoyev expressed concern about the powerful earthquake that recently struck southeastern Japan and the anticipated tsunami.
It was emphasized that Uzbekistan fully understands the Japanese side's decision to postpone the "Central Asia + Japan" first summit and the official visit of Prime Minister Kishida, originally scheduled for August 10-11, 2024.
The two sides agreed to continue preparations and coordinate new dates for the visit through diplomatic channels.
